i am ruadhan

I have been working in web development since 1999, and developed my first mobile web application, a WAP dictionary, back in 2000 when the mobile web was built on WAP and WML, and was browsed on tiny monochrome mobile phone screens.

Since then I have worked in many roles and on a wide variety of web and mobile projects, large and small, interesting and mundane, encompassing everything from device detection and responsive design, cloud services, RESTful APIs and W3C meetings. I have been an editor and regular contributor to mobile web technology and development site, mobiForge, for over 10 years. You can see all my contributions here.

In my last role, I had the opportunity to work for a cutting edge mobile services company, Afilias (née dotMobi), where ultimately I ran the development team as Head of Engineering. We built a number of award winning mobile products and services with global reach and hundreds of thousands of users, including goMobi, DeviceAtlas, and ready.mobi.

Now I run my own web and mobile development consultancy, Western Technological. If you'd like to hire me, or need some advice, please get in touch!
